Girls Get Science
an event for parents and their daughters
According to a study from the University of Washington, stereotypes about girls and math start as early as second grade. Researchers report that children express the stereotype that mathematics is for boys, not for girls, before gender differences in math achievement emerge. This event is a way for us to get more girls interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
Sponsors: We are looking for a few good sponsors to support girls and science. Sponsors have the option of buying a one page ad for $100 or a half page ad for $50 in our event brochure.
As a sponsor your company will also get a thank you on both our Girls Get Science and Adventures With Robots Facebook pages, and during our announcements at the event. Your sponsorship will reach over 100 families at the event, over 200 Facebook fans, and, if your ad is purchased well in advance of the event, hundreds more via our mailing list when we announce the event.
Sponsorship also includes one month advertising on our website for a 250x250 pixel banner.
The entire brochure, including ads, is in black-and-white. We prefer ads in .jpg format but can work with .gif or .tiff. Please email your ad to firstname.lastname@example.org
The event: At the Girls Get Science event we will have a panel of female engineers and scientists speak with parents while the daughters are doing hands-on workshops in breakout rooms; then we bring them together to meet the panelists. Workshops include: LEGO® robotics and video game programming and depending on demand, may also include any or all of the following: crime science, engineering, and electronics.
